Talapothichil is an ancient Ayurvedic treatment that involves applying a herbal paste on the head to provide various health benefits. It is a part of the Panchakarma therapy that is commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine.

What does Talapothichil mean?
Talapothichil is derived from two Sanskrit words "Tala" which means head and "Pothichil" which means covering with a paste. Therefore, the name "Talapothichil" literally means covering the head with a paste.

How it is done:

The treatment involves applying a medicated paste made from natural ingredients like amla, neem, sandalwood, turmeric, and coconut oil, to the scalp and hair.

The paste is left on for a specified period of time, during which the head is wrapped with banana leaves to allow the paste to penetrate into the scalp.

After the paste is removed, the head is washed with warm water.
